QLD Cup Tournament Rules

The QLD Cup Tournament Rules, also refer to the Q.E.B.F Tournament Rules which are to be read in conjunction.

Player Eligibility & Qualification:

  • The player must be a financial member of the QEBF and the Affiliated Association they are representing.
  • The player must be registered and financial on PlayHQ for the Affiliated Association they are representing.
  • To ‘Represent’ an Association the player must have played in a minimum of FIVE (5) Association Team Fixtures.
  • The eligibility ‘played’ period is based on the current calendar year.
  • A Player may attempt to Qualify for one or more Associations.
  • A Player must accept or decline before attempting to qualify for another Association.
  • A Player may only represent one Association in any one event.
  • A Player may only play in one division only (Men or Women or Country).

QLD CUP Nomination:

  • Team Nominations open 60 Days prior to each event.
  • Team Nominations close 30 Days prior to each event.
  • Player Names close 30 Days prior to each event.
  • The team Schedule will be available 14 days prior to each event.
  • PAYMENT is required 30 Days prior to each event.
  • Your association must nominate online.

QLD Cup Referee

  • all Teams should bring as least one (1) qualified referee.
  • Referees are funded by your association.
  • One (1) referee per table.
  • The home Team shall referee the home table (example table 7).
  • The away Team shall referee the away table (example table 8).

QLD Cup Team Uniform

  • Association Team Shirt (as below)
  • Must include Association’s Logo (Left Chest)
  • Must include Qld Cup Logo (Right Chest)
  • as per the QEBF Dress Code.

QLD CUP (Team Matches – 60 Minutes)

  • Each Round Robin Match is 60 Minutes.
  • Team change over between rounds is inclusive.
  • Teams consistently running behind schedule MAY have frames/matches forfeited.

QLD CUP (Time Allowed) 45 seconds

  • as per International Rules
  • A player has a maximum of forty-five seconds to play each shot.

QEBF Player Grading Policy

The Queensland Eight Ball Federation (QEBF) adopts the principle that every registered player is initially classified as a State Grade player.

It is the responsibility of the player’s affiliated association to demonstrate that the player should be graded below State Grade. To support such an application, the association must provide comprehensive evidence of the player’s participation and performance across all cue sports for the preceding five (5) years.

Evidence may include, but is not limited to:

  • Current results including Division, Played, Won Lost and Percentage.
  • Tournament results and placings.
  • League and competition records.
  • Representative honours and team selections.
  • Rankings and grading history.
  • Participation in any recognised cue sport discipline, including eight ball, pool, snooker, billiards, and other recognised cue sports.

The QEBF Grading Committee will assess all evidence submitted before determining the player’s appropriate grading. Until the review has been completed and a grading decision has been approved, the player will remain classified as a State Grade player.

The onus of proof rests entirely with the affiliated association. Applications that do not include sufficient supporting evidence covering the required five-year period may be declined or the player may remain classified as State Grade.

Grading – State

  • Any Junior (under 18) or Senior (over 18), player representing Australia at an World Championship is graded as State.
  • Any Junior (under 18) or Senior (over 18), player representing a State at an Australian Championship is graded as State.
  • Any Cue Sports Event in the last five years.

Grading – A Grade

  • Any player playing Teams Fixtures or Singles named A Grade.
  • Playing in an Open Competition with statistics above 66%.

Grading – B Grade

  • Any player playing Teams Fixtures or Singles named B Grade.
  • Playing in an Open Competition with statistics above 45% and below 66%.

Grading – C Grade

  • Any player playing Teams Fixtures or Singles named C Grade.
  • Playing in an Open Competition with statistics above 0% and below 45%.

Grading – Exceptions

  • upon approval of the QEBF Committee
    – you may request Grading 45 days prior to the event.
    – please provide your Cue Sports history for the past five years.

QLD CUP ( Women’s Team – ? players+)

  • 16 Teams Maximum
  • The Women’s Team has (4) FOUR Players (reserves are allowed)
  • One person MUST record the team fixture results on PoolStat.
  • ** MUST be over 18 years of age

  • SAB : Player 1 may be a State Player or A Grade or B Grade
  • SAB : Player 2 may be a State Player or A Grade or B Grade
  • AB : Player 3 may be A Grade or B Grade
  • AB : Player 4 may be A Grade or B Grade

  • Players MUST play 40% of frames to qualify for the finals

  • Yes, players can rotate to other positions staying in their own grade.
  • (For example, a B Grade Player can play in any “B’  positions.)

QLD CUP ( Men’s Team – 6 players+ )

  • 16 Teams Maximum
  • The Men’s Team has (6) SIX Players (reserves are allowed)
  • One person MUST record the team fixture results on PoolStat.

  • SS : State Players are NOT allowed, see the definition below.

QLD CUP JUNIORS ( Male & Female – 4 players + )

  • 16 Teams Maximum
  • The Team has (4) FOUR Players (reserves are allowed)
  • One person MUST record the team fixture results on PoolStat.
  • ** MUST be UNDER that age at the event.
  • u12 : must be under 12 at the event
  • u15 : must be under 15 at the event
  • u18 : must be under 18 at the event
  • Girls : must be under 18 at the event

QLD CUP MASTERS ( Male & Female – 4 players + )

  • 16 Teams Maximum
  • The Team has (4) FOUR Players (reserves are allowed)
  • One person MUST record the team fixture results on PoolStat.
  • MUST be OVER 50 Years of age at the event.

TEAM FIXTURES / FINALS

  • If time allows team fixtures will include.

  • Finals are based on the AFL Finals System

  • The top 8 are Teams finishing 1st to 8th
  • The top 16 are Teams finishing 9th to 16th
  • If there are fewer than 16 Teams, the format changes.
  • Subject to change by QLD CUP Committee.

Q.E.B.F TEAM ROUND ROBIN FIXTURE RESULTS TABLE
The positions will be determined in the following order:

  • Placing
  • Men’s, Women’s, Country & Other Teams: At the conclusion of the round placing: –
  • Fixture points, if tied on fixture points
  • Frame percentage, if tied on frame percentage (%)
  • Head to Head from Round Robin, if still tied
  • Results from those finished above on team ladder
  • Fixture Points = Matches Won, Drawn, and Lost
  • Match Won = 2 points
  • Match Drawn = 1 point
  • Match Lost = 0 points

Definitions:

  • State Australia Cup Team Players would be graded by the QLD CUP Committee.
  • Non-Current State Players may also be graded on their known ‘Ability’.
  • (must request the QLD CUP Committee access their ‘Ability’ before playing a lower grade)
  • Players previously participated at the Qld Cup or Country Cup in Grades above their current Grade.
  • (must request the QLD CUP Committee access their ‘Ability’ before playing a lower grade)
  • State, graded by the QLD CUP Committee
  • A Grade, graded by the QLD CUP Committee
  • B Grade, graded by the QLD CUP Committee
  • C Grade, graded by the QLD CUP Committee
  • QLD CUP Committee have final say on a person’s grading.
  • Many regional (Country) associations play a combined A B C competition:
  • B Grade will be players below 69.99% in a combined regional competition.
  • C Grade will be players below 54.99% in a combined regional competition.
  • Statistics from past Qld Cup and City v Country may contribute towards players grading.
  • Statistics from a player’s previous four years may contribute towards a players grading.
  • The QLD CUP Committee may grade on their known ‘Ability’.
  • PENALTY, if playing below your Grade your frame score will be null and void.
